MARCH 2004 Newsletter
The Children’s Center Chatter
As I write this newsletter, the short burst of Spring is a memory and
snow is falling outside. The good news is that Spring really is around
the corner. Don’t take home those boots yet though, the yard continues
to be wet and muddy through early spring.
January was a long, cold month with few days spent outdoors but things
got better in February and March can only be better. Remember to send
the appropriate clothing every day for outside play.
During the month of February, we enjoyed many fun theme days including
"Favorite Sweatshirt Day"," Favorite Team Day" and
"Ice Cream Sundae Day". Valentine’s Day was exciting
with lots of delicious treats and amusing Valentines to our favorite
friends.
We had a great time dancing around the school with our own Chinese dragon
that the children made to celebrate Chinese New Year. Nikki’s
children also made a dragon; it continues to decorate the ceiling in
their classroom.
A special thank you to the families who contributed to the food drive.
Anyone interested in continuing to donate to the Interfaith Food Pantry,
may do so by dropping donations off at the CCW or by bringing them to
the food pantry located in the First Baptist Church located on Lafayette
St..
Last fall, we held a Tupperware fundraiser and raised almost $900.00.
We decided to spend this money on inside supplies f or the children.
We recently received this order. Among the purchased items were a puppet
theater, a sand & water table, numerous manipulatives, numerous
wooden puzzles, dress-up clothes, pretend food f or housekeeping, pretend
people for block and doll house play, additional art supplies, and a
wooden fire station play center. The children have been enjoying these
new toys and they have quicily become favorites. Thank you to all of
you who supported this fundraiser.
Just a few reminders to please check your child’s art slot daily
for important notices and creations from your child’s busy day.
You will soon be receiving registration information for September 2004.
Please return as soon as possible.
Call if you have any questions. We look forward to having your family
with us for another year. You will also be receiving a short survey
to complete that will bring us closer to being accredited by the NAEYC.
More info to follow soon about this process.
